# Custom marketing

> Create a Custom marketing WhatsApp template in Gallabox: body, header, STOP footer, coupon, and buttons.

> **Who can use this?**
>
> * Owners, Admins, and roles with WhatsApp Templates access.
> * A connected WhatsApp channel is required.

Use **Custom marketing** for offers, announcements, and re-engagement. That is a different option from Carousel, Limited Time Offer, and Product marketing.

The editor is the same screen as [Custom utility](/whatsapp/templates/custom-utility). The Category you pick is what Meta reviews and bills. A discount in Utility will be rejected or recategorised.

## Plan Availability

Available on all Gallabox plans. Billed as a Marketing template on every send. See [Message Credits](/pricing-and-billing/message-credits).

## Create the template

Go to **WhatsApp → Templates**, click **Create New Template**, and pick **Custom marketing**. Name it, pick the **Channel** and **Language**, then fill the body, header, STOP footer, and buttons. Click **Submit for approval**.

**Template name** is lowercased. Spaces become underscores. Maximum 60 characters. You cannot change it after you submit. Example: `weekend_offer_en`.

### Message body

Maximum 1,024 characters.

Click **Add variables** for `{{name}}`, `{{email}}`, or `{{phone}}`, or **Add Custom** for your own placeholder. Every variable needs a sample. Put text before the first variable.

### Rewrite with AI

Click **AI Rewrite** above the body if you want a suggestion. Compare **Your content** and **AI content**, then **Apply AI content**, **Rewrite again**, or **Apply original**. Nothing changes until you apply.

This uses AI credits. See [AI Wallet](/pricing-and-billing/ai-wallet). AI Rewrite does not check Meta policy. Keep the message as marketing, and keep STOP.

## Header

Optional. Appears above the body.

* **None**
* **Text** (up to 60 characters, one variable allowed)
* **Image**, **Video**, or **Document** (upload a sample)
* **Location** (a map pin you set now)

### Location header

Pick **Location**, then fill the pin before you submit.

1. **Name** (required, maximum 100 characters). Example: `Central Park`.
2. **Address** (required, maximum 500 characters).
3. **Location:** **Search Location**, or **Latitude & Longitude**.
4. Optionally click **View in Map**.

Gallabox stores that pin on the template. Every send uses it. Duplicate the template if you need a different address. WhatsApp only supports a static pin, not a live location.

Location is also available on [Custom utility](/whatsapp/templates/custom-utility). It is hidden on Carousel, Limited Time Offer, Product marketing, Payment, and Authentication.

## Footer

Maximum 60 characters. No variables.

Gallabox pre-fills: *Reply with 'STOP' to unsubscribe from marketing messages.* You can change the wording. Keep a STOP line. Meta rejects marketing templates with no way to opt out.

Carousel and Limited Time Offer have no footer. That is a Meta rule.

## Buttons

Click **Add a button**. Up to 10 buttons. Button text up to 25 characters. More than three buttons show as a list in WhatsApp.

| **Coupon code**       | Copies a promo code    | 1   |
| **Form**              | Opens a WhatsApp form  | 1   |
| **Call on WhatsApp**  | Starts a WhatsApp call | 1   |

### Coupon code

One per template. The label is **Copy code**. You cannot change it.

**Sample code** is what Meta reviews. Maximum 15 characters. Example: `GET50OFF`. Fill the live code when you send.

This is not a [Limited Time Offer](/whatsapp/templates/limited-time-offer). Use that type when you need a countdown.

For one-time passwords, use [Authentication](/whatsapp/templates/authentication), not this button.

### Form

One per template. Pick the form in **Select form**. Drafts are for testing. Publish under [Forms](/whatsapp/flows) before you send to customers.

Set the button text. Optional icon: Default, Document, Promotion, or Review.

### Track link clicks

On URL buttons, turn on **Track link clicks** to see tap counts in broadcast analytics and message trackers.

## Variables

Gallabox uses **named** variables.

| Variable    | What it inserts |
| ----------- | --------------- |
| `{{name}}`  | Contact's name  |
| `{{email}}` | Contact's email |
| `{{phone}}` | Contact's phone |

Email and phone are hidden from roles that cannot view personal information.

**Add Custom** inserts `{{variable_1}}`. Rename it. You supply the value when you send. Variable names: 50 characters max. A variable at the very start of the body is a common rejection.

## FAQs

    No. The pin is saved on the template. Duplicate it to change the address.
