When a WhatsApp message fails, Meta returns a numbered error code. Gallabox shows that code — along with what it means and what to try — on the message itself. This page is the full reference for those codes.

Find the error on a message

1

Open the conversation

In the Inbox, open the conversation containing the failed message. Failed messages are marked with an error indicator.
2

Open the message info

Open the message’s info view. Gallabox shows the error code, a plain-language description, and possible solutions.
3

Check where the error came from

Errors that came from Meta are labelled Error Message From Meta. Those are Meta’s decision, not Gallabox’s — the fix is usually on the WhatsApp Business Account side.
If you see “Unique Error Encountered” instead of a description, the code is one Gallabox has not catalogued yet. Contact support with the message details and they will investigate.

The five errors you will actually hit

These account for the large majority of failures. Start here before scanning the full reference.
What happened: More than 24 hours have passed since the customer last replied to this number, so a free-form message cannot be sent. What to do: Send an approved template instead. A template is the only way to reopen a conversation after the window closes. Once the customer replies, the 24-hour window opens again and you can send normal messages. This is the single most common failure, and it is working as designed — WhatsApp requires it.
What happened: Meta has limited how many messages your number can send, usually because too many earlier messages were blocked or marked as spam. What to do:
  1. Check your daily broadcast limit on the WhatsApp channel.
  2. If you are under the limit, check your number’s quality rating in WhatsApp Manager.
Fix the underlying cause: clean up your audience list, confirm opt-ins, and reduce message frequency. Quality recovers over time if the behaviour changes.
What happened: The template you tried to send does not exist in that language, or it has not been approved. What to do: Open My Templates and confirm the template’s status is Active, and that the language matches what you are sending. See Manage templates.
What happened: Meta paused the template because of low quality (132015), or permanently disabled it after repeated pauses (132016).What to do:
  • For 132015 — edit the template to improve its content and resubmit. Check that your audience has genuinely opted in; recipients marking messages as spam is what drives quality down.
  • For 132016 — the template cannot be recovered. Create a new template with different content.
What happened: Meta could not charge for the message. Common causes: no payment method linked to the WhatsApp Business Account, a credit limit reached, an inactive credit line, or a missing timezone or currency setting. What to do: Check that all dues are cleared on your Gallabox billing. If billing is up to date and the error continues, contact support.

Template problems

Connection and permissions

These usually need Gallabox support or a change in Meta Business Manager — they are rarely something you can fix from the Inbox.

Reduce failures before they happen

Reply within the 24-hour window, and use templates to reopen conversations.
Keep your contact list clean — sending to invalid or uninterested numbers damages your quality rating.
Confirm opt-in before sending marketing messages, and honour opt-outs.
Watch your number’s quality rating and daily broadcast limit.
Check broadcast analytics after each send to catch problems early.

FAQs

Messages that fail to deliver are not charged. For messages held back by Meta’s marketing experiment (130472), Meta states explicitly that you are not charged.
It depends on the code. Temporary problems — rate limits, Meta service outages — are worth retrying. Structural ones, such as a closed 24-hour window or a disabled template, will fail again until you fix the cause.
See Broadcast analytics for delivery outcomes across a send, and Template analytics for non-delivery reasons by template.
Yes. Turn on Failed Message Email Alert in your channel’s configuration — see Channel configuration.
Not directly. Errors labelled Error Message From Meta are Meta’s decision about your WhatsApp Business Account — quality ratings, policy enforcement, billing. Gallabox support can help you interpret them and confirm what to change, but the resolution happens on the Meta side.
