What is CAPI?

CAPI (Conversions API) is a tool that helps you improve the performance of your Click-to-WhatsApp (CTWA) ad campaigns. By connecting your campaigns to Meta’s platform, CAPI allows you to track and manage leads and purchases more accurately. It helps you understand which customers are engaging with your ads and how they’re interacting with your business.

What is the use of CAPI?

CAPI allows you to track when a potential customer clicks on your Click-to-WhatsApp ad and sends a message. It helps you see whether these interactions are turning into real leads or actual purchases. This feature gives you more control over your campaign, helping you:

Important Note: CAPI is not available in Europe or Japan at this time, so it would not work in those regions.

How to configure CAPI

Setting up CAPI is easy and can be done directly from your CTWA page. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started:

  1. Go to the CTWA logs page: On this page, you will see a button labeled CAPI Configuration in the top-right corner. This button is easy to spot and will be in the primary color of your dashboard.

  2. Click on the CAPI Configuration button to start setting things up. After clicking the CAPI Configuration button, a Meta window will pop up. You will be asked to give permission to sync your Click-to-WhatsApp campaigns. Once you approve it, your account will be connected.

  3. Now, you can define what counts as a Lead and a Purchase. Here is how you can set it up:

  • Leads: When someone messages you through the CTWA ad, they will be automatically marked as a lead. Or, you can choose to mark a contact as a lead when they are tagged with a specific label, like "Interested".

  • Purchases: Similarly, you can mark contacts as purchases when they message you about buying something or when a certain tag is applied to the conversation. If you choose purchases, you will also need to enter an average order amount and select the currency your business uses.

  1. Once you have set up everything, you can see the results of your campaigns. On the CTWA logs page, you’ll notice a new Event column showing whether a contact was marked as a Lead or Purchase. If there’s any issue with tracking, you will see a clear error message letting you know. We also ensure that it we don't record the same event multiple times for the same contact.

By setting up CAPI, you will have more control over your Click-to-WhatsApp ads. You can track your leads and purchases more accurately, helping you improve your campaigns and reach the right audience.

Who can use CAPI?

CAPI is available for all plans, and anyone with access to CTWA can view and manage these settings.

What happens if I try to delete a tag?

If you want to delete a tag used for lead or purchase tracking, the system will show a pop-up asking you to update or remove the lead and purchase setup first.

Can I use more than one tag for an event?

No, only one tag can be configured for each event (Lead or Purchase).
